Build a USB to Game Port Converter

Before USB cables became commonplace in the computer world, users would connect their game joysticks to special computer ports known simply as "game ports." In the event that you want to connect a USB joystick to one of these "game ports," you must construct a special converter cable. As long as you have the right equipment, constructing the cable and connecting your USB joystick is a simple process.

Things You'll Need:

• Male-to-male game port cable
• USB-to-game port cable adapter
• USB cable extender

   Connect one end of your male-to-male game port cable to the port on your USB-to-game port adapter cable.

   Connect the USB end of your USB-to-game port adapter cable to one of the ports on your USB cable extender.

   Insert the USB connector from your USB joystick to the other port on your USB cable extender. The complete converter cable is now constructed.

   Connect the game port connector, which is now wired to your USB joystick, to the appropriate port on your computer. The computer will now recognize the USB joystick through the game port cable.
